I was a busy-bee shooting a lot of film in March 2023. This particular roll was shot at a family-owned Maple Syrup Farm called Breedon’s in rural Ontario, where they showed us how maple syrup was historically made using large cauldrons, and how it’s currently made using giant hi-tech machinery! The maple trees had to be siphoned using an interconnected system of tubes that connected to hundreds of trees with tap spigots and buckets to catch the syrup.
The best part was obviously tasting the syrup.
The film I used was purchased online “lootbox” style over Etsy for around $40. After purchasing I was very excited to see what would arrive in the mail from this mysterious seller. I received expired Konica Minolta VX 400 that certainly wasn’t worth what I paid! Lesson learned. The vivid purple tones were added post-production to balance out how incredibly green the film was, just to get a visible image.
