Our honeymoon trip down the northern Pacific Coast ended with a couple nights in Portland, OR. We treated ourselves to a very fancy stay at the Riverside Kimpton Hotel (because they have room service) and had a wonderful time (ordering room service) and exploring a bit of Portland’s downtown and Washington Park.
We didn’t taste Portland’s culinary culture outside of the hotel, but we did get the chance to catch part of a Waxahatchee feat. Woods show at Pioneer Square nearby. As big fans of both bands we braved the hot and humid August sun and posted up in the Square with some new film (shout-out to Shutterbug) and got halfway through before a thunderstorm rolled through. Storms are rare in the PNW and supposedly it was Portland’s biggest thunderstorm in 7 years, so we had fun walking back to the hotel along the Willamette River, opening some windows, and sitting on the floor with the extra blankets and pillows to revel in the stormy weather.
On our way back home the following day we decided to take a detour and see the famous Rose Garden and Japanese Garden. We snapped a few more photos of the beautiful flowers and the garden landscapes before heading north.
